Berlin Airlift

Record Group 342 -G 26-69642

Under the supervision of a U.S. Air Force maintenance chief, an RAF mechanic lends a helping hand during a rush period at Celle, a British-Zone airlift terminal. The engine is that of a U.S. C-54
regularly flying the  Berlin corridor from the RAF base.

Record Group 342 -G 23-69638 AC

A winter morning at Celle in the British-Zone of Germany. These U.S. Air Force C-54s have been flying the Berlin airlift route all night and will continue to do so during the day and far into the next night - never stopping except for  maintenance. Like the nearby airlift terminal at Fassberg, U.S. Air Force squadrons fly the goods to Berlin while RAF and British army units handle all other ground  operations
