About myself

Hi. My name is Jason Kang Poh Sing. I'm a 3rd year undergraduate at the National University of Singapore(NUS). I'm currently majoring in Electrical Engineering and minoring in Technopreneurship.

I have this inexplicable affinity for sea sports, probably because I spent two and half years in the Navy. I love canoeing and I feel this sense of tranquility when I'm out in the sea, away from civilisation. It's very enjoying if the waves are gentle and the waving motion can almost rock you to sleep. Singapore is a very small country but she does have some really beautiful and scenic islands around her. I have gone on expeditions to almost all the islands and if you are looking for a real adventure, this is one of the best ways to do it.

At the northern part of Singapore, Pulau Seletar, Pulau Serangoon and Pulau Ubin are the ones that you sure won't want to miss. Pulau Ubin is easily accessible by bumboats and is a great place for camping and cycling. If you are a water-skiing enthusiast, Pulau Seletar is the ideal place with its clean white beaches and calm waves. Sisters' island and St John island located at the southern part of Singapore are also great sites for camping. I just got my powerboat license and I'm longing to sail around Singapore on my own.

During my spare time, I like to cycle and read, especially novels by John Grisham. I love all his stories of lawyers battling their wits in the courtroom, fighting for justice. The Rainmaker and The Street Lawyer are my personal favourites. I'm currently reading books by John Saul. He is really a terrific horror fiction writer. I read The Homming and Shadows at one go because it's so frightening.

I love eating mainly because Singapore has the widest range of cheap food available. Given a choice, I would definitely eat at a hawker centre. My personal favourites are the satay, fried Hokkien mee, barbacued Stingray and fried carrot cake. Yum, Yum, Yum. To get them all at once, go to Chomp Chomp at Serangoon Gardens or at the old Woodlands hawker centre.
