The most comprehensive site I found for free downloads is CNET. It has a detailed listing of free software and they show you which are the most popular downloads.
Free webspace
The most popular web hosts for free webpage now are Fortune City and Geocities
Fortune City, offers you 20 MB of disk space on their server to host your webpage. However, MP3s are not allowed to be uploaded and the maximum size of each file is 1 MB.
Geocities, offers 11 MB of disk space but there are no restrictions on the file size. It is the most popular web host currently. I chose the former to host my page mainly because I need the extra space. The choice is up to you and both hosts provides guestbook and counter functions and you can use the File manager utility to upload and manage your files.
Buy / Sell Second Hand Textbooks
If you are looking for cheap second hand university textbooks, try A1. The site shows a list of available textbooks and the selling price. Once you are satisfied with the price, simply click on the book and they (A1) will e-mail you the particulars of the seller. Then you can contact the seller to purchase the book.
If you want to sell your textbooks, you can also used the site to look for buyers. And best of all, this service is absolutely FREE. (I have bought four textbooks last semester through A1 and it's pretty cheap)
