Bayonet training with Chinese peasants. A baby crying in one of the most publicized Nanking Massacre photos. Japanese trophies Removed babies
One of countless Beheadings The Aftermath of a Mass Rape. A pose for the family. It is hard to say how this can be viewed with pride. Young children were not sacrificed from the Japanese killing sprees.
beheaded man with a cigarette in his mouth. Japanese humor. Two attack dogs unleashed on unsuspecting Chinese peasants. Unfortunately, this was a common occurence during the massacre. Bayonet practice, even though the bayonet was outdated, was carried on ritually. A young man prays before he meets the unknown.
Rape-murders were frequent. After all, one could not be pointed out if the situation in China was reversed. A rape victim in disbelief. These men appear to be preparing for burial while they are alive. Who knows if they were shot before they were buried or not? An uncovered mass grave served as a grizzly reminder of the might of the Japanese Imperial Army.
A young man being tortured. A row of heads is hanged in a public square to remind the Chinese residents of Japan's power. Doctors work to no avail trying to save victims of gunshot and bayonet wounds they received only yards from the hospitals. Most of the doctors reported that they could hear the firing squads from inside the hospital. Another picture sent home to a no-doubt proud set of parents.
Another mass grave that was left exposed to the elements. A 12-year-old rape victim. This document advertises a peasant beheading contest held by two Japanese officials. A grizzly bayonet practice. This man was probably stabbed 6 or 7 times. There are reports of men with up to 20 stab wounds being admitted to a hospital.
