Should beepers be banned in school? Are we for or against using beepers in school? I think everybody will have a different opinion about that. In my own opinion, I think that beepers should be banned in school. The reason why I think in this way is because I figured out some examples and reasons to support my opinion.
Now, beeper are very popular in our society, and there are more and more different kinds of beepers on sale in market. We can see many people carry around the beepers. Not even the men, but the younger people too. They look happy to carry it. Also there are more and more students with a beeper and they carry it to school. First, students go to school for learning knowledge, banning beepers can make schools safer by reducing the drug and gang problems. Some students may use beepers to contact with drug deals and gang activity. However, some students may say they carry beepers because their parents want them to, they want to reach their children easily in an emergency, but it’s not necessary. If parents need to reach their children, they can always call the school office. Also students who get beeped during class will be distracted from learning. Even though they can set their pagers on vibrating mode, it still can effect learning, or if somebody pagers them, they also can’t go to call back immediately.
In addition, beeper are not really necessary for us. They are only useful for people who work outside, like fireman, police, or business people etc. It also can cause students economic problems, if you want to buy a good looking beeper, it’s not cheap and you need to pay money ever month. There fore, beepers should be banned in school. This rule can help all the students concentrate on learning things. Without beepers, students can also communicate with their friends by using telephones after school, but not during the school time. The things above are all drawbacks for beepers. Finally, it is necessary to banned beepers in school, because beeper are not useful for us.
