Admission

In addition to suggested Museum admission, a fee is charged for IMAX films, audio expeditions, and certain special exhibitions and programs. Discounted combination tickets are available.

 

Daily Highlights Tours

Free tours begin at 10:15 & 11:15am, and 12:15, 1:15, 2:15 & 3:15pm. Meet at hall of African Mammals, 2^nd Floor. Group tours by appointment only, fee required. Ask at information desks for specialized tours and schedule for sign language and foreign-language tours. For information, call the Volunteer Office, (212)-769-5566.

 

Amenities for the Disabled

The primary entrance for the disabled is at 77^th Street. All public areas of the Museum are wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs are available on the first floor, at the 77^th Street and Central Park West entrances. Central Park West and 77^th Street elevators contain Braille signage, audible signals, and visual control indicators. Infrared hearing aids are available for theater shows, and a TDD telephone is located at the 77^th Street entrance.

 

The American Museum of Natural History is a private not-for-profit educational institution supported by admission fees, membership, publication sales and services, and contributions. The City of New York owns the Museum buildings and the land on which they sit and provides funds for their operation and maintenance.

Ocean Life Café

            A variety of menu selections under the 94-foot Blue Whale. Lunch: Monday through Friday, 11:30am-3:30pm; Saturday and Sunday, 11:00am-4:00pm. Dinner: Friday and Saturday, 5:00-7:30pm. Hours subject to change. Hall of Ocean Life, first floor.

 

Diner Saurus

Fast-service eatery for sandwiches, salads, snacks, and more. Daily, 11:00am-4:45pm lower level.

 

Whale's Lair

            Cocktails, soft drinks, and snacks served under the Blue Whale. Friday and Saturday, 11:00am-7:30pm; Sunday, 11:00am-4:45pm hall of Ocean Life, first floor.
