Objectives


Article I

Membership and Dues

Meetings are open to all present and past students, faculty, and staff of the Institute of Emergency Management and Planning at The University of North Texas.  The only requirement to attend is an interest in the practice of Emergency Administration and Planning.

Active members are defined as:
 


Membership dues shall be paid by each member each semester to the amount of ten dollars ($10).  In addition, donations may be requested for specific projects that may be specified at that later time.

Article II

Meetings

There will be called meetings each semester.  Meetings for special purposes other than regular called meetings may be called.  The time, place, and frequency of the meetings will be decided by the Senior Officers.  Any two officers may call a meeting, as long as one is a Senior Officer.  Officers calling a meeting are responsible for seeing that all current members are notified of the meeting.

Article III

Officers and Executive Committee

All officers shall be members who are current students.

The Executive Committee is composed of all the Senior Officers and other officers.

Other offices or committees may be created or dissolved at any time by consent among the Senior Officers.

Committee chairpersons will be responsible for reporting information about the activities of their committee to the Senior Officers.

 All Senior Officer terms shall be from January to December.  All active members shall be eligible for all other positions.

Any officer may be removed from his or her office by a two-thirds vote by present members.  Cause for removal may include, but is not limited to not providing for the general well being of The International Emergency Management Student Association.

The Faculty Advisor will be the Director of The Institute of Emergency Administration and Planning or the Directors designee.

Article IV

Elections

Senior Officer elections for the next year shall be held during the second to last meeting of the Fall semester.  Additional elections may be called by petition signed by two thirds of members.  Elections also may be called upon the creation of offices or positions by the Senior Officers.

Officers shall be nominated by a committee composed of the Senior Officers of The International Emergency Management Student Association, or by a committee delegated by them.  Nominations will also be accepted from the floor.

Elections shall be conducted by ballots.  Election outcomes will be determined by a majority of present, voting members.  All members will be notified and given a chance to vote.

Senior Officers shall hold their respective offices for one year, from January to December, equaling one term.  Officers may run for re-election.

Committee chairpersons will be selected by consensus of their respective committee members.

Article V

Amendments

This Constitution may be amended in a meeting by two thirds approval vote of present members.  All members will be notified in advance of any amendment vote.

Ballot vote may be called by the Executive Committee or by a petition signed by ten percent of the active members.

Article VI

Hazing

The International Emergency Management Student Association shall not promote any hazing activities.  Hazing, such as intentional or knowingly reckless activities, and the use of physical brutality, intimidation, or threatening will result in immediate removal.  Such activities will be reported to the University’s administration.

Article  VII

Disabilities Act

The International Emergency Management Student Association recognizes the Americans with Disabilities Act.  Accommodations shall be facilitated for all persons with disabilities with adequate notification.
