Why Bilingual Education is important to me?

 

Many schools in the U.S have bilingual education for some students whose native language is not English. It provides many benefits for those new immigrants because teachers teach those students by speaking both languages, or they can translate English to their native language. It is the easiest way for students to receive knowledge. For me, I take bilingual education, too. With this kind of education, I can improve both Chinese and English skills. I have accomplished a big achievement through this education. Therefore, I consider that bilingual education is important to me.

 

In school, bilingual education helps us to understand the class. For example, in biology class, there are a lot of vocabulary which we've never seen before. If we sere in regular class, depending on our English skill, we are going to feel it difficult understand every lesson, even we try our best to listen to what the teacher talks about, but because our listening skill is limited, we will get heavy pressure on that. Fortunately, bilingual education helps us most of the time. In bilingual class, some teachers know our native language, when we don't understand something, they will say it by speaking our own language. And then we get the clear idea in our mind. On the other hand, bilingual education helps us to improve two different languages. When we came to this new land, we knew that English is very important to us for living here. Also, we need to spend some time on studying our own language. Although it is our native language, we can't say we don't need to learn it anymore. If we just concentrate on English, we are going to forget our own language gradually. In bilingual class, we get the chance to learn more English and Chinese. Isn't it good for us?

In the future, many jobs and careers are seeking people who can speak, write, and read more than one language. At that time, we'll be possibility to get a good career for our lives. It is useful to know two languages, it helps us to communicate and create relationships with other people who come from different places. We'll get more confidence for ourselves while we are speaking both languages. That's why bilingual education provides many benefits for us.

Now, bilingual education has become an important part of my life. It helps me learn more, provide a good opportunity for seeking a career in the future. In addition, it lets me feel comfortable and communicate with others easily. I realize how useful it is for us to know two languages. Not just for me, it's for all the immigrants.
