THE EARTH IN OUR SOLAR SYSTEM
(Ans) All objects-sun,planets,moons and millions of bright objects seen during the
night which belong to the universe are called celestial bodies.
(Ans) The sun and the nine planets make up the family of the sun or solar system.
(Ans) Due to the presence of water on the earth it appears blue from the space.
Therefore it is called a blue planet.
(Ans) The moon takes 27days and 8 hours to complete one revolution around the earth.It
takes exactly the same time to complete one rotation on its axis.Therefore we see only one
side of the moon.
(Ans) Venus and Uranus rotate from east to west.
(Ans) Mercury takes less time in completing one revolution than the earth because it is
nearer to the sun.

Pluto. All these planets have 49 satellites.
(V) Why is the Earth a unique planet in the Solar System?
(Ans)Earth is a unique planet because there is water, air and life is possible here.
