Joyous Naw Rúz! Happy New Year!
Naw Rúz begins when the fast ends, at sunset on March 20th. This is also the begining of the month of Jamál on the Baha'i calendar. Naw Rúz day, March 21st, is also the first official day of spring. This makes it a wonderful time to celebrate a new year, since nature around us is also celebrating its new year by getting ready to put out new grass, leaves, and flowers.
Here are some quotes about Naw Rúz from the Bahá'í Writings:
"O Pen of the Most High! Say: O people of the world! We have enjoined upon you fasting during a brief period, and at its close have designated for you Naw Rúz as a feast."
"Praised be Thou, O my God, that Thou hast ordained Naw Rúz as a festival unto those who have observed the fast for love of Thee and absatined from all that is abhorrent unto Thee."

If anyone has any stories, pictures, poems, etc. about Naw Rúz that you'd like to share, feel free to e-mail them to me and I would love to post them here.
