The next morning, a bunch of us got on 4x4's towards the
Sahara
We arrived at Marrakech about 5 hours later. A beautiful
and exciting city, Marrakech is the "gateway to the Sahara"
We caught a great rainbow as we were walking to the square
There were hundreds of small booths selling everything
from big pieces of meat...
...to wonderful metal creations
The next morning we were up early once again for a full
day's ride through the Atlas mountains, which separate the Sahara
from Marrakech
The driving in Morocco is the worst I've ever seen - it
really sucked. There were two lane roads just wide enough for one
car, no guard rails on cliffs, and they passed everywhere - going
really really fast!
Then it got icy to add to the experience. We all stopped
atop a mountain as a gasoline truck had skid across the road and was
blocking us. We had a great snowball fight while we waited.
Here is Mulai, our driver - he was a real great guy, and a
great driver, relatively speaking
This is what I mean - thin roads, no guard rails
and this was where you could end up.
All kidding aside, it was the most beautiful drive I've
ever taken but I had a hard time relaxing
