Kanchipuram and Mahabalipuram

Mahabalipuram and Kanchipuram are two towns in southern India, south of Madras, and I spent two days there. I relaxed a bit on the beach, saw some old temples, and met some wonderful Indians

I always thought that snake-charmers were a myth, but this man proved me wrong. Some people claimed the cobra had its teeth taken out, but it scared me, nevertheless

I remember these two young kids asking me for money, and I didn't know what to do. Nothing got to me more than seeing kids in such need, and it taunts me to this ay that I didn't give them money. I still don't know what was right

I heard about the elephants in India, too, but this was the only one I saw

The key to my room was misplaced, as were all of the spares. It was great watching the workers break into my room with a Bic pen!

Nobody ever spoke of India as beautiful, but it undoubtfully was

I became friends with this man, who called himself Lucas. I still remember the poem he wrote me:

"Some people like a tall ship

Some people like a big ship

Some people like a small ship

But I like your friendship."

I traded my watch for the bracelet he is wearing. At first I thought he got the better side of the deal, but the bracelet and the poem are still with me
