Cu Chi Tunnels and Cao Dai Temple

We stopped on the side of the road on the way to the Cao Dai temple to look at this inactive volcano from afar

Cao Dai is a unique Vietnamese religion that combines western and eastern religions. This temple was surely the most beautiful of buildings that I'd ever seen.

We came just in time to see a religious ceremony, and they were very willing to have us watch. The service involved some wonderful music played on some instruments that I'd never seen, but I felt too bad to take a picture of the band.

We then came to the Cu Chi tunnels, used for hiding, living, and underground transport during the war.

I didn't know what I was getting into!

Julie will probably kill me for this picture, but it does show how small the tunnels were. We got claustrophobic after just a few minutes, and I can't possibly imagine how people were able to live in hiding like that. I quickly learned that bats don't like flash photography.

The tunnels were quite an experience. It was intense, and I'm glad that I did it, but once was enough.
