Coming Into Saigon

It was quite amazing how the ship maneuvered her way through the narrow and meandering Saigon River

It felt a bit intrusive sailing past small huts like these. The area surrounding the Saigon River was of the most beautiful places I've experienced, and it was hard to believe that the river led to a port.

The Vietnamese gave us a wonderful welcome. From the first moment I stepped off the ship I was amazed at their kindness to me as an American. I surely wasn't expecting it. So many people wanted to meet me and talk to me and help me, and all I was expecting was bitterness.
