Although Alison still has significant developmental delays as a result of having had infantile spasms, she has surpassed a grim prognosis and learned to walk and communicate with informal gestures. Canine Companions For Independence Canine Companions for Independence (CCI) is a nonprofit organization that provides highly trained assistance dogs to people with disabilities and to professional caregivers. The Puppy Program of Canine Companions for Independence is seeking volunteers interested in becoming puppy raisers or foster sitters.

Guide Dog Foundation For The Blind The Guide Dog Foundation strives to be the leading resource and provider of premier services to facilitate the independence of people who are blind or visually impaired.

National Education for Assistance Dog Services, Inc. The National Education for Assistance Dog Service, Inc. (NEADS) is a non-profit organization located in Princeton, MA. NEADS trains dogs of all breeds, shapes, and sizes to help people that are deaf or in wheelchairs. These assistance dogs become an extension of their owners and bring security, freedom, independence, and relief from social isolation to their human partners.

Service Dog Access Consulting is an independent Washington business dedicated to providing information and consulting services to places of public accommodation and to the general public on service dog access issues as covered under the Americans With Disabilities Act Title III *. Service Dog Access ConsultingTM also provides general education about service animals.

Association of Foot and Mouth Painting Artists A.M.F.P.A. is not a charity but a company entirely owned by seriously disabled members of the Association of Mouth and Foot Painting Artists. Its members have all learned to draw and paint with the brush held in the mouth or with the toes.

Very Special Arts Gallery The Very Special Arts Gallery provides a unique venue for the work of emerging and established artists with disabilities specializing in outsider and visionary art. Works for sale in a variety of media including watercolors, paintings, prints, ceramics, carved wood sculptures and jewelry. One-of-a-kind greeting cards and wind chimes are also available. The Gallery is an active member of the Albuquerque Art Business Association and a participant in its ArtsCrawl evenings for the Central Avenue Corridor.

DisAbility/Medical Related Discussion Lists Mailing lists are basically discussion groups in which the postings are sent directly to your e-mail address.
DisAbilities/Health/Medical Newsgroups If you have trouble reading news, it's probably because you haven't told your Web browser what news (NNTP) server to use.

Note: to read any of these newsgroups they must be available on your news (NNTP) server. Most sites do not carry every newsgroup available.

If you don't have a news server available at your site, Super Zippo is one place than I know of that provides newsgroups for a fee. Another place to look is Newzbot list of open NNTP sites. A searchable & readable index of newsgroups can be found at DejaNews
